Swedish construction giant Skanska AB has released its six month report for the first half of 1999 showing strong growth and a major improvement in earnings.
An increase of 18% in order bookings saw a rise to $5.8bn, with net sales rising by 41% to $4.5bn. The upward trend continues with an operating income growth to $601.5m and net investments in project development increasing to $193.6m.
Discussing the six month report, Claes Björk, Skanska president and CEO says, "The trend during the first half of 1999 was very favourable, both in our construction operations and project development work. Our focus on core business and the restructuring we have implemented are thus yielding continued good results."
Commenting on the company’s short term prospects he continues, "The outlook in our main markets is favourable. We anticipate a continued positive income trend during the second half of 1999, consistent with the trend during the first six months."
