Former adviser to PM takes lead at NPC
Previous Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister, Dan Corry, has been appointed as the Chief Executive of the New Philanthropy Capital (NPC). His appointment follows the departure of Martin Brookes last month. Corry is an expert in public policy and economics, and has previously worked as the Head of the Number 10 Policy Unit. He is also a Visiting Fellow at Southampton University and a trustee of the Spitalfields Centre Charity Trust.
New director of philanthropy and partnerships for Impetus Trust
Joanna Walker has been appointed to the new role of Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships at Impetus Trust. Walker joins from UBS Wealth Management where she worked in both London and Dubai. Prior to this she worked as head of major gifts and international fundraising at overseas development charity, The Brooke.
The British Liver Trust appoints new chief executive
Andrew Langford is to take over the helm at The British Liver Trust following the departure of his predecessor Alison Rogers. Langford has worked in chief executive and trustee roles for an umbrella dermatology charity, voluntary sector hospices and HIV, cancer and children’s charities. He is chair of the parliamentary inquiry into skin cancer and is also developing a widely recognised centre of excellence in the hospice care of people with HIV and dementia.
Ram Gidoomal named chair designate of Traidcraft
Traidcraft, the fair trade charity, has named Ram Gidoomal as its new chair, subject to approval at the AGM to be held in September. Gidooomal, who is the former chief executive of Inlaks, an international food company, succeeds Chris Stephens who stood down after five years to take up a new role as chairman of the Judicial Appointments Commission. Gidoomal has a breadth of experience across the voluntary sector with current roles including chair of the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, chair of the South Asian Development Partnership Trust, chair of Allia, the social profit society; and Board member of the International Justice Mission (USA).
Two assistant chief executives for Victim Support
Victim Support has expanded its senior management team with the appointment of two new Assistant Chief Executives: Adam Pemberton and Susannah Hancock. Pemberton joined Victim Support in August, and has previously worked as an adviser to the government and civil service on public and civil service reforms. He will be responsible for helping the charity through a period a change, especially in Programme Management, Information Systems and Communications. Hancock joined at the start of the month, and will be working with Volunteering, Business Development and Performance. She has extensive experience in the youth justice sector and in criminal justice.
