AMCO Plastics has been making flexible ventilation ducting for mining and tunnelling companies throughout the world for over 20 years.
The company produces a full range of flexible PVC ventilation ducting from 200mm to 3,000mm in diameter for forcing and extraction systems. It also supplies ventilation ducting cassettes, which can be configured for mounting on any TBM, in either steel or glass fibre.

Crowcon has developed a simplified version of its Custodian personal gas monitor for providing continuous protection against multiple gas hazards that can be encountered in underground tunnels.
The Custodian C is operated with just one button and monitors up to four different gases. If it detects dangerous levels it emits a loud siren (85dB(A) at 1m distance) along with ultra-bright flashing LED signals.
Weighing 500g, it is available as a three-gas monitor for measuring oxygen, flammable gas and hydrogen sulphide, or a four-gas unit which also detects carbon monoxide.

Ventilation Engineering manufactures ventilation ducts using PVC coated polyester fabric for construction and mining applications.
Rhino ducts are available , in sizes from 300 to 3000mm dia, as both semi rigid form for exhausting and blowing and flexible form for blowing only. The fabric of construction, coated on both sides, has high tensile and tear strength and offers a low weight to volume ratio.
Accessories such as joints and bends are manufactured, and also supplied are overhead wire rope suspension assemblies, high performance axial flow fans and centrifugal fans.

Zitron’s ventilation monitor units for tunnels are based on its experience in underground coal mines, where safety is a basic requirement.
Data links from every fan are connected with each other and to a computer by at least four pairs of bus cable. From the computer, data goes into a file where it can be accessed.
The form of the VMU is a printed circuit board and vibration sensor mounted near, or on, the fan with connectors to the single voltage conductor and power supply cable.
There are two analog inputs for use with an anemometer or visibility/CO detector as examples.
