Mexican soldiers found in February an illegal underground tunnel at the border with the United States.
The 15m long, 1m wide unfinished tunnel ran from customs offices at the Otay Mesa in Tijuana, Mexico, toward the U.S. border.
The design of the tunnel is similar to others used by drug smugglers and human traffickers in the area. When discovered, the tunnel was 50m away from reaching the U.S. side of the border.
The tunnel was the fifth discovered at the border crossing in less than a year.
