More than 30 exhibitors will display the latest products and services to make building and operating tunnels safer and more efficient while minimising the environmental impact.
The biennial trade fair for transport technology will be held at Berlin Exhibition Grounds from September 24-27.
BBT SE will be at InnoTrans 2024 to highlight the progress and technical aspects of the 64km Brenner Base Tunnel, the world’s largest underground rail link, while Egypt’s Orascom Construction will outline its involvement in current large-scale projects such as Egypt’s first high-speed rail link, which will be the sixth longest in the world.
Valente SpA, based in Milan, will present its range of products for the tunnelling and mining sector. Valente specialises in muck disposal vehicles, custom vehicles, and mixers as well as high-performance diesel and electric locomotives.
“Our participation in InnoTrans 2024 will open new opportunities for collaboration and growth. We look forward to meeting leading industry players and potential customers and to highlighting the success of our products and services with numerous projects such as the Port of Ravenna and Fincantieri Goliath Crane,” the company said.
CFT GmbH will present its turnkey solutions for ensuring occupational safety during rail track work on temporary tunnel construction sites. Products include shaft ventilation, dust removal, provision of measuring systems and additional services such as rail logistics and geo tracking systems.
“At InnoTrans 2024 we are presenting our latest innovative mobile ventilation modules which are ideal for maintenance work on short tunnel sections,” said area tunnel renovation manager Patrick Schneider.
Webac-Chemie GmbH, which markets water-resistant injection resins, will display its range of polyurethane, epoxy and silicate resins as well as injection gels and special products for hardening and sealing floor surfaces.
Exhibitors also include Schüßler-Plan GmbH, which is currently supervising construction of Hamburg’s new U 5 metro line; Amberg Technologies AG; and DB Bahnbau Gruppe.
The International Tunnel Forum, on September 25 and 26, will focus on current challenges and sustainability efforts. The forum is organised by the Research Association for Tunnels and Transportation Facilities.
Day one’s focus on “Sustainability in tunnelling” will include Heinz Ehrbar, InfraGO’s representative on the German Tunnelling Committee, addressing underground construction in accordance with UN sustainability goals; Benoit de Rivaz from NV Bekaert SA discussing low-carbon precast segment lining using steel fibre-reinforced concrete; and Professor Dr.-Ing. Christoph Budach from Technische Hochschule Köln exploring tunnelling as a source of raw materials – utilisation of excavated tunnel material. Frank Plöger from Hochbahn U5 Projekt GmbH will discuss U5 metro line in Hamburg – a flagship climate-friendly transport infrastructure project.
Day two’s theme is “Challenges in tunnelling”. Kay Müller, project manager for the new Dresden-Prague Line, DB InfraGO AG, will outline Erzgebirgstunnel – a cross-border project of the century with Germany’s longest railway tunnel; Rainer Haschke, of Fernbahntunnel Frankfurt am Main, DB InfrGO, will focus on Frankfurt/Main mainline railway tunnel – construction of an inner-city tunnel with an underground station; and Gerhard Cordes from Femern A/S will talk about the Fehmarn Belt fixed link – the world’s longest immersed tunnel.
Completing the speaker line-up Andras Busslinger from HBI Haerter AG will outline new safety concepts for underground track-bound junctions.
