The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Friday that it had awarded two contracts for construction work on the Downtown Line Stage Three project. The contracts, C931 and C936 were valued at SGD 188M (USD 152.91M) and SGD 177.58M (USD 144.43M).
Contract 931, awarded to Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., covered construction of Macpherson station and associated tunnelling works. MacPherson station will link DTL3 to the Circle Line. Contract 936 was awarded to Sato Kogyo for construction of Bencoolen station. Work was scheduled to commence in Q2 2011 with completion in 2017.
“Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd has extensive experience in the construction of rail infrastructural projects in Singapore and Korea,” said an LTA spokesperson. “They have worked on several rail projects including the construction of several North East Line (NEL) stations and the NEL depot. Sato Kogyo is currently involved in the construction of the Marina Coastal Expressway and Jurong East Modification Project.”
