Hatch Mott MacDonald, the US consulting engineers, has acquired leading US infrastructure and consulting engineers, the Killam Group Inc for an undisclosed sum.

The Killam Group, previously part of the Thermo Electron Corporation, specialises in transportation, water and wastewater and environmental management.

Hatch Mott MacDonald acquired part of the Killam Group’s transportation business in April 2000. The further acquisition sees Hatch Mott MacDonald strengthening its transportation skills in Killam’s native eastern US states including Florida, New Jersey. With the addition of Killam offices in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Jersey, Hatch Mott MacDonald now has offices in over 30 US cities.

US Mott MacDonald chairman, Tim Thirlwell said: "Bringing the Killam Group on board gives us added strength in transportation, especially in new geographic areas such as Florida and New Jersey, and is another step forward in our strategic aim to expand our services in the US."

The newly acquired firm will continue to operate as Killam Group Inc.
