Proposals are being advanced for the construction of a $204M drainage tunnel in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The tunnel will be built by Ukrainian contractors to offset the cost of gas supplies from Turkmenistan in the mid-1990s. The deals were agreed in a recent conversation between Turkmenistan president Saparmurad Niyazov and Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma.
