Allott & Lomax, a UK independent multi-disciplinary consultancy organisation, has merged with the Babtie Group, a UK technical and management consultancy who’s specialist services include rail and road infrastructure.

Chairman of the Babtie Group, Henry Perfect, says: "This merger will strengthen and improve the services we provide for our clients. It is in line with our strategic plans for the profitable growth of the business and to double the turnover of the group over the next three years."

Allott & Lomax chairman, Alan Smith, comments: "This is good news for the company. The engineering consultancy business in the UK is more and more provided by larger companies with greater resources than in the past."

The merger will bring together some 3000 staff and will take the extended Babtie Group turnover for 2000 to an estimated $192m. Of particular use is the combined expertise in PFI.
