Pre-qualification bids are currently being evaluated by client the Municipal Corporation of Brihan Mumbai (MCBM) for the construction of the 3km long, 2.5m diameter Ghatkopar High Level Tunnel in Mumbai, India.
MCBM invited pre-qualification submissions for Contract 29AAA on January 17 2000, to be in no later than March 1 2000.
The scope of works includes: excavation of the tunnel with a precast concrete segment lining and grouting of the annular cavity, to be carried out as a continuous operation using a TBM; setting up, maintaining and subsequent removal of a tunnel segment pre-casting facility; grouting to stabilise the ground and reduce permeability at shaft locations and on sections of the tunnel line as required; shaft sinking and lining with in-situ reinforced concrete; and excavation of a downstream connection tunnel.
The contractor will be responsible for commissioning the new tunnel; drop shafts; surface works; modified existing works; and the modified New Ghatkopar pumping station as directed by the Engineer, Binnie & Partners (India) Ltd.
