An 11km headrace tunnel and an underground powerhouse will be an integral part of the development of the 70MW Millares II hydro project in south east Spain. The tunnel will transfer flows from the headpond of the original and smaller Millares plant, which was built in the 1930s. Commissioned to develop the project, Iberinco Ingeniería y Consultoría, expects the power plant to be operational in early 2002.
