Dassault Systemes of France intends to acquire geological modelling and simulation company Gemcom Software International of Vancouver, Canada. Dassault is already a leader in three-dimensional design, mock ups and product lifecycle management (PLM).

The reported sum involved was USD 360M. A statement by Bernard Charles, president and ceo of Dassault Systemes, indicated that the company intends to extends services both within and beyond the natural resources industry. Gemcon is the world’s largest supplier of mining software. The completion of the acquisition agreement is subject to normal closing conditions and regulatory approvals, but is expected to take place in July.
