Geoconsult, the Austrian engineering consultant, has won a contract from Pakistan’s National Highway Authority for the design and construction supervision of the US$104M long-delayed Lowari road tunnel in northern Pakistan. The firm beat off a strong challenge from seven other consultants including second-placed British firm, Scott Wilson. The 8.5km long tunnel would provide an all-weather road connection between Dir, Chitral and the rest of Pakistan.
