The final breakthrough on the 2.2km long twin-tube Dekani road tunnel in Slovenia was successfully achieved in November last year. Contractor SCT built the US$70M tunnel through flysch with siltstones and sandstones using NATM incorporating a top heading and a bench. Reports of 3.5m – 5m per day on each 9.7m wide advance from the two portals have been reported. Detailed design was provided for the client the Slovenian Motorway Operator, by a consulting JV of ic consulenten/elea ic/irgo.
