In Baku documents are due to be submitted to the government for proposals on an underground line to provide connections to the airport.
Reports said two documents are currently under consideration by the Metrotikinti Project Institute. Two lines are being considered to link the airport and Yeni Gunashli station.
If funding is approved, then it is hoped construction could get underway within five years.
