Hot on the heels of the summer Olympics closing ceremony in Athens, another celebration marked the completion of a tunnel in Italy that is part of the works associated with the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

At 11am on 30 August, the Craviale works were completed for a 1,060m long, 12.5m high x 13.84m wide tunnel. Completed in less than eight months, the works were said to be among the most complex in the infrastructure schemes planned for the winter games.
