Officials in Shenzhen, are mulling plans to build a 32km long tunnel to transfer sewage from the city to a central treatment plan in the Nanshan district. From there a 2.4km long outfall would discharge effluent into Deep Bay, which separates the western side of Shenzhen from Hong Kong. The proposal is one of three plans to collect, treat and discharge sewage and effluent being considered by Shenzhen municipal council.
