German engineering firm Siemens has won a US$32.3M contract to design and install an automated traffic control system for Moscow’s 34km third ringroad, which includes three dual two-lane tunnels such as the 1.8km Lefortovo tunnel.
The system, which is due to become operational by the end of 2006, includes a central control facility, surveillance cameras and a data transmission system.
