US based consultant Precision Blasting Services (PBS) has opened a new facility, the Academy for Blasting and Explosives Technology (ABET) in Ohio.
PBS acts as a troubleshooter for blasting or blast vibration problems. It cites decades of experience working to achieve blast optimisation, which it defines as improving fragmentation, providing wall control, minimisation of vibration, air blast and cost. The company has also developed its own software to assist engineers with blast design.
The ABET will be used to provide training seminars and longer term training in blasting for the mining and construction industries. Some of the topics covered will include blast design, underwater blasting, safety, blast vibration and air blast control and controlled blasting.
