Veidekke has won another contract lot on the Lysaker-Sanvika rail tunnel project near Oslo from the National Rail Administration (Jernbaneverket).

The contract for Lot LS-01 includes 700m of drill and blast excavation as well as cut and cover tunnel plus supporting walls. Work on the US$62M (excl VAT) contract is due to start next month for completion of the stretch of single bore, twin-track tunnel by June 2011.

Recently, Veidekke won the adjacent Lot LS-02 contract, construction of which started in April for completion in late 2010. The job involves building an access tunnel 420m long and then open up two opposite faces to drive 800m west and east, respectively.

Skanska Norge is building another 800m stretch of the tunnel as part of Lot LS-04. The contract includes excavation of a link tunnel to tie-in to the existing line. Work is due to complete mid-2011.

The lots are part of Jernbaneverket’s new 6.7km long rail link, which calls for a total of 5.5km of single bore tunnel (T&TI, April, p10).
