The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority certified the Final Environmental Impact Reports for a new tunnelling project line Thursday on April 26.
Estimated to cost USD 1.37bn, the Regional Connector Transit Corridor Project will connect light rail lines through downtown Los Angeles. Metro’s Locally Preferred Alternative, a 1.9-mile fully underground light rail line with three new stations, will be excavated by TBM.
The Metro board will seek a Record of Decision for the project by the Federal Transit Administration before awarding a construction contract. Construction could begin in 2013.
