All transportation tunnels and service galleries have been driven, which amount to 30km of underground workings. A total of 22 railroad bridges have been built, the tracks have been put in place, and the first "Lastochka," a new model of electric train, ran along the new line in December 2012.

"The last year was of the paramount importance for construction of the combined route, which will be the major route during the Olympics," says Oleg Ferdman, Manager, Special Division of Stroy-Trest. "We have completed the most important chunks of work that have been started a few years before, and we are now moving steadily to the finish line."

In addition, the highway part of the route has been worked on in 2012 including highway bridge span installation, which is 98 per cent completed, the roadway construction on 10 bridges, and concrete paving of the highway tunnels, which is close to completion, SK Most stated.
