Albeit slow, this gain is expected to be maintained, particularly for earthmoving, compaction and material handling equipment, following the passing of the federal highway bill in 2012, which is expected to drive growth in public infrastructure construction. In 2014 Timetric forecasts the US market for new construction equipment to reach USD 30.5M.
Every three years the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) organises the Conexpo trade show for the construction industries. Its focus is on construction, aggregates and ready mixed concrete – see box on page 32 to read about new, "green" trends in cement. The show embodies a massive exhibition of the latest technologies and innovations in equipment, products and services plus extensive industrytargeted education. Conexpo is expected to showcase 2,400 exhibitors with new products and technologies for every major construction industry including, concrete, earthmoving, lifting, mining, utilities and more. And the 2014 show is co-located with the IFPE exposition for fluid power/motion control/power transmission. The new Platinum Lot will be located directly across from South Hall and host 387,000 square feet of equipment for aggregate processing, asphalt paving and drilling among others.
Organisers say this year’s event will also offer new improvements for getting around the show including a shuttle service, mobile navigation app, onsite guides to answer questions and new internal routes to get from one product area to another faster.
