The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced a loan of US$111 towards the construction of a toll motorway in Spain designed to link the A6 Madrid-Galacia motorway with the town of Avila. The project includes the construction of a new tunnel under the Guadarrama mountain range. The successful tenderer for the project is Iberica de Autopistas SA, having been awarded the contract in 1999 by the Spanish Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
