India’s Hindustan Petroleum Corp. (HPCL) and France’s Total Fina have decided to invest $45m in an underground LPG storage project in Visakhapatnam. The project will be India’s first underground LPG cavern and will consist of three caverns dug 145m below sea level. The project is to be located in India’s southern state of Andhra Pradesh and will have a storage capacity of 60 000 tonnes and is scheduled for completion in early 2003.
