Doka says it aims to provide “optimum solutions to help contractors tackle even the toughest formwork technology challenges in a cost-effective way”.

Doka developed a self-travelling tunnel formwork machine assembled from rentable system components for constructing a 665m long section of the Stans Tunnel, part of a new stretch of two-track railway being built through Tyrol’s Lower Inn Valley, Austria. Built on a basic framework of SL-1 system components, the inside tunnel-formwork unit is fitted with fold-away formwork elements.

Its eight hydraulic cylinders and two hydraulic motors are said to enable the forming operations to go ahead at the push of a button. The outside formwork can be repositioned by the site crew in one piece on roller blocks with no need for a crane, Doka concludes.
