The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences wishes to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Rock Mechanics with industrial/consultancy experience and/or research capabilities. Previous teaching experience is useful though not essential as we will provide full training and support for this key role. What is important is a passion for this subject and the enthusiasm to share your knowledge with our students.

You will join a forward-thinking and expanding team of Applied Geoscientists and a School which has over 40 years of teaching and research in the Applied Geosciences. You should possess the appropriate dynamism, expertise and qualifications to contribute to the academic development of our undergraduate and postgraduate Applied Geoscience programmes.

You will be expected to have specialist expertise in Rock Mechanics and should be able to contribute substantially to some of the following subject areas: Rock Mechanics, Rock Engineering and Landslide Hazard Analysis. Teaching duties will also include active participation in the School’s fieldwork programme. You will be expected to develop professional research and/or consultancy activities by attracting external funding, thus enhancing and diversifying the academic profile and existing strengths within the School.
