TunnelTec says that these tools are robust and reliable and feature long life and high economic efficiency. They can be mounted on existing cutter heads or cutting wheels without any further alterations. The company adds that use of its tools results in an increase in the daily headway of the TBM and fewer tool changes and down times.
Disk cutters with disks and bearings suitable for the geology complement the tools. This is said to enable the company to offer an optimal combination of picks and disk cutters for a range of applications.
TunnelTec also offers analysis and optimisation of cutter head designs for project-specific applications. It says: “Optimised centre and gauge openings and a change in the cutter head tool arrangement often result in remarkable improvements.”
