A JV between ABB, Japan’s Kinden and the Vietnam Industrial Construction Corporation (Vinaincon) has won a US$6.3M contract to build a substation and 2km of transmission lines to supply power to Vietnam’s Hai Van Pass Tunnel. The contract was awarded by the transport ministry’s Project Management Unit 85 which is about to award contracts on three other tunnel contracts. These cover the supply and installation of electrical systems and ventilation equipment. Construction of the US$251M tunnel is underway and is due for completion in mid-2004.
