On 13 June, Affholder Inc, a subsidiary of Insituform Technologies Inc, announced the appointment of Bruce Frost as the new company president. Affholder carry out many tunnel contracts throughout the US, with notable recent major works including the Little Calumet leg of the Chicago TARP scheme (T&TI, April 2004, p11).

With a master’s degree in building construction and a bachelor degree in construction management, Frost joined Affholder last year in a role that saw him giving consultancy support to operations. He has previously held senior positions with Fru-Con and McClier Corporation. Thomas Rooney Jr, chief executive of Insituform, said: “Bruce has the experience and knowledge to effectively lead Affholder’s operational, bid and sales functions.”

Affholder has recently had financial problems associated with its tunnelling contracts (T&TI, April, p15), but Rooney showed faith in the new president: “Under his leadership, we believe that Affholder will have a strong future.”
