A spokesman for the companies explained "[The partnership] will combine the sales and distribution of Bekaert’s Dramix steel fibers for the reinforcement of concrete in underground construction projects such as shotcrete and precast applications, with Maccaferri’s complementary underground solutions, such as steel arches, concrete chemicals and glass fiber soil consolidation elements.
The joint venture will be serving underground construction markets on a worldwide basis, except in mainland China and Hong Kong, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay, where Bekaert and Maccaferri will continue to operate independently.
The establishment of the joint venture is subject to customary closing conditions.
Belgium’s Bekaert is a world market and technology leader in steel wire transformation and coatings. Italy-based Maccaferri offers engineered solutions from reinforced soil structures, road stabilization and natural hazard mitigation to hydraulic works and landfill construction.
