The Robbins Company has revealed that more than 50 of its TBMs will be operating this year, with a minimum of around 35 operating at any one time. Most of the machines (32%) are being used in Asia on ‘mega’ projects.
Project use has increased most notably in Europe (24%) and North America (20%). Other regions of use are Latin America (12%), Australasia (8%) and Africa (4%). Although most machines are refurbished units (see T&T International Aug 2000 p58), 22% of those operating this year are new. Future distribution of TBMs is expected to remain the same.
