Brazil’s Andrade Gutierrez in association with Bolivian contractors, Copesa and Minerva, both from Bolivia, started work in early February on the $25M San Rafael road tunnel on the Cotapata-Santa Barbara highway in Bolivia’s La Paz province. The two-lane, 1.3km long tunnel will take 22 months to complete, with contractors tunnelling from both ends.
