Swiss infrastructure body SBB and the country’s Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) have jointly agreed that the revised test operations are in accordance with the requirements stipulated by BAG. One of the new measures put into place is the presence of a designated safety officer for each shift, in addition to continuous assessment of the situation.
Prior to the halt of works, ATG had been undertaking maintenance work in accordance with Canton of Ticino requirements. At the end of April, it will reassess the performance of the testing operations alongside BAV and SBB, particularly the potential effects on the tunnel’s testing programme which began in March and is due to be completed by September 2020.
With an inauguration due for September, operations are planned to start in December.
