The 8.2m diameter Herrenknecht Mixshield TBM to be used on the UK’s Channel Tunnel Rail Link Section 2 Contract 320, The Thames Tunnels, is currently being assembled at the site launch chamber ready to start tunnelling next month. Contractor JV Hochtief/Murphy will use the TBM to bore the 2.5km long twin-tube tunnels.
