Austria’s Strabag will build twin road tunnels with a total length of 1.45km, in association with two partners as part of the 80km, D47 motorway in the Czech Republic. The Strabag Group signed a 25-year concession agreement with the Czech government on 25 June 2002. The highway will connect Becvou to the Polish border and is due for completion in August 2007. Finance for the project is being provided by one of Strabag’s partners, Israeli company Housing & Construction. The deal closely follows on from a Croatian road tunnel scheme that Strabag was awarded in May.
