Construction has begun on the 1.5km long Beirut Road-Nad Al Hamer Tunnel, which will run beneath Dubai’s international airport. Local Al Ghandi and Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International won a US$187M contract to build the road tunnel under the main runway. It will be constructed at a depth of 16m and have four lanes running in each direction. It forms part of US$4.2bn expansion works currently in progress at the airport.
