The breakthrough and counter-breakthrough met last week after excavating 1.62km from Lanner (east access) and 920m from Herregarsbekken (west access).
By the end of September, the excavation of the southern tube on Lot 2 of the E18 motorway project will be completed after the remaining 200m are dug.
Each 2.5km tube of the Bjønnåsen tunnel has been excavated by drill and blast. The average progress was 5-7meters a day pin each tube, depending on the numerous ground injection phases.
Lot 2 of the Norwegian Ministry of Transport project connects the towns of Langangen and Rugtvedt.
Eiffage also has the design and build contracts for Lot 1 (Langangen-Lanner) and Lot 3 (Kjørholt-Rugtvedt). Lots 1 and 3 works are expected to be delivered mid-2025; Lot 2 is scheduled for completion by early 2026.
