The Dan Region wastewater municipal town association of Tel Aviv has issued an international turnkey tender for the design, supply and construction of the 7.5km long, 1.5m i.d. concrete pipe jack tunnel section of the city’s Eastern Sewerage Collection System (ESCS). All tender proposals must be submitted by the 24th of this month.
A foreign ‘expert’ JV member is required to join forces with a suitable Israeli contractor.
The ‘expert’ must be able to demonstrate experience in 1.2m i.d pipe jacks over an accumulated length of 10,000m where on at least one contract since 1992 there has been a continuous pipe jack of 500m between two shafts.
Experience of concrete pipe jacking on two projects, designed to convey pressurised liquid at 2 atmospheres pressure through 1.2m i.d., in the last 10 years is also required.
The tunnel forms part of the ESCS which has been designed to transfer up to 400,000m³/day of sewerage to the Shafdan waste water treatment plant of the Tel Aviv greater metropolis. When finished the scheme will improve living conditions to an area of over 1.2M people.
