Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) are to design a new wastewater transport and storage tunnel in Atlanta, Georgia.
The 4.9km tunnel will be 3.7m in diameter and run from the No Business Creek water reclamation facility to a reception shaft at a water reclamation facility. The rock tunnel will be driven with two access shafts along its length and a dewatering pumping station at the drive shaft end. Sanitary flow will be by gravity and collect additional flows along its route from an intermediate access shaft.
PB will prepare a preliminary report, finalise design and assist the client with tendering. Construction is due to start in January 2005 with completion estimated by December 2007. PB will provide construction management services.
