TBM Thần Tốc operated by Ghella has arrived at Cat Linh Station (S10) on Hanoi’s Pilot Light Metro Line 3.
The breakthrough marks the halfway point of the TBM’s tunnelling work in the Vietnamese capital. The Herrenknecht TBM is more than 100m long and weighs approximately 850 tons.
The Pilot Light Metro Line 3 is Hanoi’s first underground metro line. The 12.5km-long line connects Nhon—located in the Tay Tuu neighborhood of Nam Tu Liem district, in western Hanoi—to Hanoi Station. It consists of 8.5km of elevated tracks, 4km of underground tunnels and the construction of four underground stations: Kim Ma Station, Cat Linh Station, Van Mieu Station, and Hanoi Station.
