Stephen Byers, the UK secretary of state for transport has given the green light to extensions to the Heathrow Express and to the London Underground Piccadilly Line to Heathrow Airport. The extrensions will involve the addition of a 3.4km long, twin tunnel to the Heathrow Express and a 3.5km long twin tube tunnel to the Piccadilly Line.
