Phillip Lea of Halcrow Group Ltd (pictured left) won this year’s Harding Prize competition for his paper on the Arrowhead tunnel project in southern California. Anthony Umney, the chairman of the British Tunnelling Society, presented Lea with his prize following a presentation of his paper to BTS members on 24 April. The winning paper on precast segmental lining joint tests is published in this issue.
