A third wave of rail expansion in Hong Kong has been announced by the Legislative Council. The results of a transport study identify six new corridors for development by 2016, although detailed planning will have to wait for a future study. Schemes could include the West Rail Phase 3 link from Yuen Long to Lok Chau and the KCR branch from Tai Wai, linking the Ma On Shan Line to Kowloon via the former Kai Tak Airport, possibly with a fourth cross-harbour rail tunnel.
