A raft of road tunnels totalling about 20km has been proposed as part of an US$8.3bn highway blueprint in Hong Kong’s northwest New Territories.
These include: a US$1.3bn twin three-lane tunnel connecting the Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai bridge with the North Lantau highway on Lantau island; the US$449M twin two-lane Sham Tseng tunnel; the US$513M twin three-lane Lam Tei tunnel; the US$192M twin three lane Tai Lam Chung tunnel; and the US$1.5bn twin two-lane Tuen Mun to Chek Lap Kok airport tunnel and bridge.
