The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) has invited bids for the supply and installation of tunnel ventilation equipment in the twin 5.2km long tunnels being built as part of the KCRC’s US$1.3bn, 7.3km Sheung Shui-Lok Ma Chau spur line. The tunnels, being built by French contractor Dragages et Travaux Publics, run between Sheung Shui and Chau Tau. Part of the tunnels are being built under Long Valley, an important bird habitat, by an 8.75m diameter NFM EPBM that was previously used by Dragages to build the Kwai Tsing tunnels on KCRC’s West Rail project.
