More than 100 entries across seven categories and from more than 19 countries have been submitted.

Projects for road, rail, metro, hydro, water, and underground space, join entries for technical advancements, engineering initiatives, and the young engineers who are the future of the industry, to celebrate the highest of achievements for 2024.

A panel of 20 judges will identify a shortlist of three finalists per category and from these, a second round of scoring will result in an overall winner for each category.

This year’s awards will take place on November 28 in Genoa, Italy, in conjunction with the two-day Italian tunnelling congress organised by the Italian Tunnelling Society. The joint events are a continuation of the ITA’s 50-year anniversary celebrations. The final day includes a technical site visit to the Terzo Valico dei Giovi highspeed rail project.

This year the Major Project of the Year (over €500m) category has attracted 12 projects from eight countries; Project of the Year (€50-€500m) 16 entries from 11 countries; Renovation Project of the Year seven entries from five countries; Technical Innovation of the Year 17 entries from 10 countries; Product/Equipment Innovation 19 entries from 10 countries;  Beyond Engineering five entries from four countries; and Young Tunneller of the Year 25 entries from 16 countries.
