Work is set to go-ahead on the construction of the M6 line of the Bucharest metro, in Romania, after the Japan Bank for International Cooperation agreed to provide a US$700M loan to finance the underground link.

The project has been approved by city officials and the formal loan agreement should be signed by early April.

Bucharest’s new metro line will run from the 1 Mai station on the M4 line in the centre of Bucharest to the Henri Coanda international airport.

Metro stations will include – Pajura, Expozitiei, Gara Baneasa, Cartier Baneasa, Aurel Vlaicu Airport, Baneasa Institut, Baneasa Meteo, Privighetorilor, Padina, Centura Otopeni, Otopeni South, Otopeni Centre and Otopeni North.
