Inchon International Airport Corp. (IIAC) is studying ways to repair cracks that have appeared in a tunnel for a people mover, driverless train system at the airport. It is being built on an artificial island off the coast of South Korea coast.

IIAC said that four cracks, between 8m and 15m long and up to 3.7mm wide, were found in the base of the tunnel that connects the passenger terminal and transportation centre. The concrete structure was completed last May. The airport organisation, which is overseeing site construction at Youngjong Island off the coast of Inchon, about 30km west of Seoul, said the cracks were caused by a rapid decrease in temperature. but were unlikely to threaten the opening of the airport early next year.
