After numerous financing delays related to guarantees, government backing has led to the opening of bidding this month for an exploratory tunnel to define geological risk on the La Linea road tunnel in Colombia. The 8.6km La Linea project is planned to link Calarca and Cajamarca to the west of Bogota. The US$22M pilot tunnel will assist finalisation of the design between twin or single bore tunnels. Bids must be received by 29 March, with contract award by 5 May.
